Floatplane to Sonora Resort
Sonora Island, Discovery Islands, British Columbia
Sonora Resort sits on Sonora Island in the Discovery Islands, at the southern end of BC's Inside Passage. There's no road. Guests arrive by floatplane, helicopter or water taxi.
Getting there by floatplane
Most guests fly direct from the downtown Vancouver Harbour floatplane terminal and land at the resort's dock. Flying from Vancouver Harbour saves the drive and ferry to Vancouver Island and the water taxi on the other end.
Fly from Campbell River and save
If you're already on Vancouver Island, a charter from Campbell River is a short hop of about 38 km. On the quotes we've seen, the Campbell River leg costs well under a third of the flight from Vancouver.
What to pack
Floatplanes have strict weight limits and small holds. Soft bags pack far better than hard cases. Tell us about fishing gear when you request a quote so we can pick the right aircraft.
